Well that seemed easy, but I couldn't get the radio to open again to give me access to the map disc because the screen was black with yellow chinese letters, so I went back to dealer to complain and plead some more. So now I'll cut to the chase.(needed to vent first, sorry!).I found someone online somewhere who mentioned trying a disc head cleaner. No one would admit to it at GM, but this must be a common problem, because I found several others on the internet, and some on this very board (acadia forum) who've had same issue with GM radios. The guy who answered said he had another customer with this issue, but then quickly pretended he didn't say that (clearly he was reprimanded later for saying that because after I asked him about it again - he totally changed the subject as if it was never mentioned). But they weren't gonna help, so I tried calling the number on the back of the DVD case (which just gets you back to GM again, but this time the 'Infotainment' division). I didn't believe this was a warranty issue, since the thing was working fine until I tried installing their new map disc. They sent me to GMC customer service, who proceeded to take days to investigate only to tell me - nothing we can do for you ('sorry'?).it's out of warranty. ?$$!! Still had same reaction.I said I don't think this is fair.radio worked fine before dvd you suggested was installed, which totally fried my radio.why is that my problem? So I left with no nav system, no backup camera, no dvd player, and no access to my radio stations. OMG! WHAT? After that reaction, they said, well, we can get you a refurbished one for around $1,400. They took a look, apparently took disc out, tried putting old one back in, tried doing some sort of 'update' with their computers, etc. Ok, well, without the touch screen working, I could not eject the Map Disc to set any other original CD ROM, so I brought it back to GMC dealer for more help. But clearly the screen still worked, because there were those yellow letters. No more backup camera, no dvd player, no changing stations on XM radio, no navigation. No longer had access to touch screen, but the radio still worked (I could hear it).
#Buick enclave constant disk map read error update#
When I tried installing this new map disc, after waiting the prescribed 10 minutes to allow it to download and update the system (with engine running), the screen went black, and then there were two lines in yellow lettering - the first line in Chinese (or Japanese) and the second in English saying "Set Original CD-ROM". I did so, paying $180 for the newest disc which was dated 2015 (in April 2016). They gave me the GM website on which to purchase this specific new map disc. They told me I probably needed a new map disc - they couldn't figure anything else out. Everything else worked fine (radio, dvd, backup camera), so I ignored it for about a month, and then when I brought it to the dealer for the next oil change, I asked them to take a look at it and tell me what's wrong with it. A few months ago, I started getting this 'MAP DISC READ ERROR' notice on the screen, and I could hear the map disc spinning behind the radio touch screen. Before you buy a new radio - read this! My 2009 GMC Acadia with Nav system and DENSO radio/DVD player system along with Nav system was working fine when I purchased the vehicle a year ago.
